Dr. Glassman is a clinical instructor and responsible for teaching craniomandibular concepts, risk management, and dental sleep medicine to the general dental residents of three hospitals. In addition, he conducts seminars from his office, the Allentown Pain Center and is a renowned national and international lecturer.

Chronic Pain and Joint Dysfunction  Courses

While any of Dr. Glassman's courses can be taken individually, many have asked for a logical progression in their chronic pain and joint dysfunction education.  It is recommended that the courses be scheduled in the following order:

  1. ABC's of TMD
  2. Biometric Diagnostics (TOTAL BioPAK)
  3. In House TMD course
  4. Hands on Injection Course and Patient Care (Costa Rica)

Additional recommended courses include the Hands-On Appliance course as well as a course in Dental Sleep Medicine.

ABC's of TMD

This two day is the basic course in practical TMJ anatomy and physiology and TMJ dysfunction and chronic pain issues. Diagnosis and treatment of these disorders emphasizing proper control of parafunction will be reviewed. This information is essential to all practicing dentists and will be immediately helpful in your daily practice.  The model which allows us to diagnose specific disorders of the Craniomandibular System emphasizing ligament insertion injuries will be explored in depth.  The various potentially confusing occlusal therapeutic concepts will be critically evaluated.  Diagnostically driven therapy including splint therapy and supportive therapy will be reviewed. The key role that dentistry can play in headache therapy will be the most exciting part of this course, as it is guaranteed that you will soon make a major improvement in many of your patient’s quality of life.

Biometric Diagnostics in Dentistry (TOTAL BioPAK)


This is an intensive three day course (26 Hours of CE credit) for the BioRESEARCH user or one who may be interested in learning how to better utilize and interpret data and to learn how to incorporate the data into a medical model. Every participant brings a lap top and gains hands on experience with the program. Data acquisition is reviewed but not emphasized. The key is interpretation and utilization into the model.  There is a full section on joint function and practical anatomy and physiology of the temporomandibular joints as well as the craniomandibular system.

The course will be given throughout the year, Once a year the course is given in Milwaukee at BioRESEARCH's superb teaching facility.

3 day In-House Pain Course...

This unique course combines lecture, actual patient care and hands-on appliance opportunities for all attendees.  The limited registration insures ample opportunity to learn as much as possible about the pain model that is utilized at the Allentown Pain Center and to determine how best to apply these principles to your everyday practice.  The course starts with Marathon Thursday; a morning lecture to outline the pain model you are about to witness and patient care in the Pain Center all afternoon.  Following dinner (included), we head back for more detailed concepts and a review of tomorrow’s patients.  Patient care all day Friday (pain and sleep patients) is followed by a Saturday morning review and hands-on appliance opportunities at the Pain Center.
During the course there will be at least one new patient interview and an opportunity to see the all important history taking process.  You will have an opportunity to observe how the staff functions, how patients are scheduled, and how histories are taken at each follow up visit.  There will be an insurance and fee presentation by Angela, our office manager, who will be able to answer your individual questions and address your financial concerns. 
Come RESTED!  And with room in your suitcase for your manual!

Injections in the Treatment of Craniomandibular Disorders & Chronic Pain...

The Allentown Pain Center Seminars is thrilled to announce a one of a kind course to teach injection therapy for patients with chronic pain, ligament insertion injuries, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction.  While there have been courses given in injection therapy, there have been no courses that have given each participant ample opportunity to perform the injections taught. 
This three day course is designed to fully explain all the injections and techniques and then have each participant inject patients provided.  An entire injection manual that includes not only the theory of the injections taught but a comprehensive equipment list and technique description will be helpful when the participants return to their respective offices.

Hands-On Appliance Course


This two day course is designed to teach the real “work horses” of the appliance concepts used at the Allentown Pain Center.  What does each appliance do?  Why and when do we use them?  What are not only the indications but the contraindications of each appliance? What records are taken?  How are they inserted?  What instructions are given?  How are they monitored and adjusted?  When and why are they removed?  Learn not only about the NTI, but the B splint series, the daytime parafunctional appliances that allow our patients to function normally, and the repositioning appliances as well.  By sending your own models to the Allentown Dental Lab, we will have stents that allow us construct all these appliances chair side at the course!

Dental Sleep Medicine (Allentown)

This is a two day course designed to teach the dentist the principles of sleep medicine and the role of the dentist on the sleep medicine team (18 Hours CE credit).Participants should be able to return to their offices fully equipped to begin to add sleep dentistry to their practices. All aspects of oral appliance therapy, handling of side effects, as well as the basics of sleep medicine including sleep architecture, snoring, UARS, apnea, and polysomnias, will be reviewed. A hands-on portion with appliance insertion is included.    An additional office viewing day before the first day of the course is available at a nominal fee of two hundred and fifty dollars.  Attendance to this session is limited to the first eight that register for the viewing day.

Advanced Dental Sleep Medicine (Allentown)

This two day course is designed specifically for those who have taken a previous course with Dr. Glassman.  The course includes a sleep medicine update as current literature will be reviewed and discussed.  In addition to the case presentations by Dr. Glassman as intricacies in diagnosis and treatment decision making as well as treatment of complications will be emphasized, there will be an opportunity for attendees to present cases as well.  A presentation by a physician in sleep medicine followed by a panel discussion which will highlight communication between physicians and dentists should prove to be an exciting part of the course.

Dental Sleep Medicine and Software Training

This course is given at the Nierman Learning Facility in Jupiter, Florida.  It is the same comprehensive course that is given in Allentown, but has the added advantage of having a full training course with Rose Nierman’s superb practice management software designed specifically for Dental Sleep Medicine.  The course is two and a half days.
This is a two day course designed to teach the dentist the principles of sleep medicine and the role of the dentist on the sleep medicine team (20 Hours CE credit).Participants should be able to return to their offices fully equipped to begin to add sleep dentistry to their practices. Introduction to Dental Sleep Medicine (1 day) (Series)

This one day course introduction is unique in that it includes the hands-on opportunity of appliance insertion.  Each attendee will insert an appliance and have one inserted that they can then keep for their personal use and for demonstration purposes for their patients.  The basics of dental sleep medicine will be covered as well as the basics of treatment emphasizing oral appliance therapy.  This course is associated with an advanced two day course which will be given in a near-by location in the near future.

Advanced Dental Sleep Medicine (2 day) (Series)

This course is the natural follow-up to the introduction course given in the same geographic area a few months ago.   The principles of sleep medicine are now explored in depth.  Emphasis is placed on how to establish good relationship with sleep labs and sleep physicians in your community.  Referral patterns, communication, and patient management is emphasized.  The new patient visit including the history and the clinical examination is taught, and attendees with learn how to perform a comprehensive craniomandibular clinical examination.  Oral appliance therapy will be taught in detail, and you will learn how to deal with the potential side effects of muscle discomfort and joint pain. 
Obstructive disorders are common and potentially dangerous to our patients.  Over 90% of those who have obstructive disorders are undiagnosed.  This advanced course will put you in a tremendous position to become a respected and valuable member of your community’s sleep medicine’s teams.
