background
His studies began with Niles Guichet and the Society for Occlusal Studies. This intensive course, given at the University of Pennsylvania over a two year period, emphasized occlusion and centric relation. Dr. Glassman followed this course with a concentrated study with Dr. Harold Gelb, who in the late 70's introduced the concept of an improved condylar posture that was not related to centric relation. This individual study led to course work and additional study with Dr. Jack Haden of Kansas City .
Dr. Glassman has continued to study an ever growing field which has expanded into craniomandibular concepts and the role of musculature and joint function in upper quarter chronic and acute pain. He has also helped to develop the concept of the significant role ligament insertion injuries play in chronic pain and headache syndromes.
